Sam Rodriguez, serves as President of KSR Strategy Group a Sacramento, California based firm specializing in government relations, public policy development, message development, media and press relations, coalition organizing, online advocacy, cable TV micro targeting, video production and campaign management. He also serves as Senior Political Advisor to the National Cable Communications (NCC), the spot cable-advertising firm jointly owned by three of the nation’s largest cable companies – Comcast, Cox Communications, and Time Warner. He has provided strategic advice and produced political commercials for the Morongo Indian Tribe, State Controller John Chiang, and The Courage Campaign. KSR Strategy Group has also won the prestigious “Pollie Award” from the American Association of Political Consultants for the best integration of Internet Media, Video on Demand and Television for the Nevada Presidential Caucus in 2008. He also serves as a state lobbyist for the University of San Diego, Center for Public Law Interest and was instrumental in defeating a major anti-consumer legislative bill this year. Sam is also a senior advisor for the bi-partisan Vote No on Prop 2 coalition building committee.
Mr. Rodriguez was most recently Political Director for the California Democratic Party and manager of the 2006 democratic coordinated campaign. Prior to his service to the State Party he was the Washington State Director for Senator John Kerry’s Presidential Campaign. He was the chief political strategist and spokesperson for the presidential campaign.
His government service includes several key positions during Governor Gray Davis’ Administration – Chief Deputy Labor Commissioner for the CA Industrial Department, Acting Under-Secretary for the CA Labor and Workforce Development Agency and Chief Deputy Director for the CA Employment Development Department.
During the Clinton Administration, he also served as the Assistant Director for Science Education and Communications at the US Department of Energy, Office of Science where he was nationally recognized for developing a program to help community college students enter science and technology careers at DOE’s national laboratories.
During the early 1990’s, Mr. Rodriguez was one of the first in the nation to manage campaigns for minority women running for the US Congress in California and Texas. He was the first Latino to serve as Press Secretary for the President of Planned Parenthood Federation of America based in New York City.
He is a graduate of the University of Texas at Dallas with a B.A., in Government and Politics.
